Traditional concealers can be tricky. Some barely cover spots, most only serve one purpose, and many aren’t very natural looking. Instead, we created our face concealer as a unique, two-shade product that offers full coverage, colour correction, brightness, and a natural finish. So, we wanted to break down exactly how to use it so you get the best results every single time with Secret Camouflage Concealer.
How to Use Colour Correcting Concealer
Most colour correcting products are different shades of yellow, green or pink, but we found those weren’t necessary if you used a concealer with full enough coverage. Plus, our concealer features two shades in each palette so you can custom blend your perfect shade for any part of your face. Here’s how:
Step One
Using our Secret Camouflage concealer brush, pick up the pigment of each shade and put them on the back of your hand, mixing them together. Keep working until you get the perfect shade to match your natural skin tone.
Step Two
Wipe any excess formula off the brush before applying (a little goes a long way!).
Step Three
Using feather-light strokes, apply the concealer to the areas of the face that need covering, concealing, or camouflaging. Once you’ve applied with the brush, pat the product in gently with your fingertips.
Step Four
Set with powder if you’d like or continue with foundation and other liquid formulas first.
How to Use a Concealer Brush
Makeup is an art form, and we use brushes as if we were delicately painting a picture—which in a way, we are. Our concealer brush is designed with synthetic fibres that pick up and distribute colour precisely and evenly. All you have to worry about is hand placement:
- Hold the brush at the centre of the handle, pinching between the thumb and middle finger.
- For more control, use your pointer finger with a light touch on the handle, serving as a “guide” during application.
- It will feel like you’re balancing the brush if you’re holding it correctly.
Using a concealer brush should feel natural and intuitive, but if you feel overwhelmed, simply pretend you’re holding a paintbrush.
How to Use Concealer and Foundation Together
If you want to use concealer and foundation together, there are a few different methods to try. First, you can apply everything in the traditional order: Primer, foundation, concealer, powder. Or, you can try the latest “underpainting technique” which requires a slightly less intuitive approach.
You go in with concealer and contour first, then apply your foundation. You’ll find you use less product, and you end with a very natural-looking finish.
